OUR
PLANET

Global warming, greenhouse gasses, carbon emissions, pollution, and
unnecessary waste. A great deal of publicity is given to these
problems that may threaten the life of this planet. Scientists appear to show much evidence to
support their findings. Politicians and
other people in authority put great emphasis on methods to combat these
problems to such an extent that they see it as their role to ‘Save The Planet’. However,
one suspects there may be an ulterior motive to their
endeavours – state control, taxes, etc.
Contrary to
this main body of thinking, another body of scientists refuel that global
warming is caused by carbon emissions, but put forward the argument that the
sun passes through periods of high and low activity, so at this time we are
passing through a period of high activity.
They also produce evidence to support their findings.
If the
general public were asked what they considered to be the important problems
affecting the lives of people on earth, I feel that their fears would lie in a different direction, for instance rising crime
rates, violence, terrorism, moral decay, some nations on the brink of
starvation, cost of living, community care, wars, etc.
We, as
Christadelphians, know that this planet will be saved from all the
problems listed above, but by no means by mankind. It will be saved by a greater authority –
that of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the God who created and sustains all
things on earth. How do we know
this? By reading God’s Word in the Holy
Bible, the Word which we are told was delivered once for all. A new world order will be established.
When will
this be we ask? Only God Himself
knows. Those that believe know that by
the signs of the times it will be soon.
For Jesus himself told His followers that the days prior to His second
coming would be like the days of Noah, (see the Gospel of Luke, chapter 17 v
27) implying that there would be widespread violence, wickedness and troubles
of every kind, which would include earthquakes, famines and disease so that
there will be ‘upon earth distress of nations with
perplexity’ (Luke 21 verses 11-25).
Who can argue that these things are happening now, in our time?
What will
the new world order be like? Why not
find out for yourself by reading Revelation Chapter 21, verses 1-8 and Isaiah
chapter 11 verses 4-10. These are
wonderful promises in which YOU can share if you turn to God and His Son,
Jesus, whilst they can still be found.
