SIGNS OF THE TIMES

As we draw near to the end of another year, we often reflect on what has happened to both ourselves as well as events in the world. It has seen many changes this past year including natural disasters which change countries, governments and lives. We must give thought to all those who have lost lives, loved ones and friends, as we are told in the Word of God that all peoples are our neighbours.

Many at this time of year will be celebrating the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and some will just celebrate. As we contemplate the tsunami, hurricanes and earthquakes we ask ourselves what is becoming of this planet and what does it all mean to us?

Bible readers have been talking of such events (earthquakes, famines, natural disasters) for some time now. The Bible shows us that God has left the answers to these and many other questions that you may have. Luke chapter 21 tells us what the time will be like just prior to our Lord’s return. Just recently laws have been passed which allow same sex couples to effectively get married. One more example of how God’s word has already spoken of such things is in Luke 17 v 26. This tells us these times will be as in the days of Noah. God destroyed man then because of his evil ways and he will not allow the earth to be corrupted like that again.
